LOS DIOSES

Cuando hablamos de mitología nórdica, cabe destacar que se trata de una cultura politeísta, por lo tanto existen diversos dioses. Tal vez, los dioses más famosos, son aquellos que hemos podido ver en las afamadas películas de Marvel, Odin, Thor y su hermano Loki. Sin embargo, esta no es la realidad, ni Thor es rubio. ni Loki es el hermano de Thor. ¿Te intriga saber más?

Vayamos por partes, existen dos clases de dioses en esta mitología; por un lado encontramos los aesir: los dioses guerreros, amos de las batallas y las conquistas, los habitantes de Asgard (recinto de los æsir); por otro lado están los vanir: dioses de la fertilidad, el placer y la paz.

Odin, Thor y Loki formaban parte de los æsir, pero la relación entre ellos no es como hemos podido ver en el cine, hablemos pues de estos dioses:

Odín

Odin: es el más eminente y antiguo de los dioses, hijo del gigante Bor. Recibe otros nombres como Grimmir o el Tercero. Se le conoce también como el padre de todos. Dio un ojo a cambio del conocimiento y se colgó de Yggdrasil (el árbol que conecta los reinos), para obtener las runas y así no sólo conocer la magia, también ser capaz de controlar el mundo. Cuando visita Midgard, la tierra de los humanos, viaja disfrazado como un hombre alto con capa y sombrero. Precisa de dos cuervos, Huginn (el pensamiento) y Muninn (la memoria), que viajan por el mundo, recogiendo información para susurrarla a su oído al final del día. La vida o la muerte en la batalla depende de él, bien sea por su gracia o por su traición, sin embargo, si caes con honor en la batalla, las Valkirias te llevarán con él al Valhalla.

Thor

Thor: el hijo de Odín y dios del trueno, allí donde su padre es retorcido, Thor es franco y sincero. Es un dios enorme y vigoroso con una profunda barba roja. Su arma como bien sabemos es el martillo llamado Mjolnir, un regalo de los enanos, además de este arma lleva un cinturón Megingjord el cual duplica su fuerza al ponérselo. Está casado con Sif, con quien tiene dos hijos Modi y Magni y una hija llamada Thrud. Además es el padre adoptivo de Ullr. Se le conoce como el defensor de Asgard y Midgard.

Loki

Loki: es hijo de la gigante Laufey. Se trata de un dios muy apuesto, es elocuente y sutil, el dios del engaño, siendo incluso más astuto que Odín, quien le considera su hermano y es amigo de Thor aunque frecuentemente le traicione. Gracias a Loki el mundo es más entretenido, pero también más peligroso. Loki tiene tres hijos: Hela, Fenrir y Jörmundgandr, todos ellos estarán presentes en el Ragnarok (la batalla de los dioses), aunque no lucharán junto a ellos.

When we speak of Nordic mythology, it should be noted that it is a polytheistic culture, therefore there are several gods. Perhaps the most famous gods are those we have seen in the famous films of Marvel, Odin, Thor and his brother Loki. However, this is not the reality, nor is Thor blond. nor is Loki Thor's brother. He gave an eye in exchange for knowledge and hung himself from Yggdrasil (the tree that connects the kingdoms), to get the runes and thus not only know the magic, but also be able to control the world. When he visits Midgard, the land of humans, he travels disguised as a tall man in cloak and hat. It requires two crows, Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory), who travel the world, collecting information to whisper it into their ears at the end of the day. Life or death in battle depends on him, either by his grace or by his betrayal, however, if you fall with honor in battle, the Valkyries will take you with him to Valhalla.

Thor: the son of Odin and god of thunder, where his father is twisted, Thor is frank and sincere. He's a huge, vigorous god with a deep red beard. His weapon as we well know is the hammer called Mjolnir, a gift from the dwarves, in addition to this weapon carries a Megingjord belt which doubles its strength to put it. He is married to Sif, with whom he has two sons Modi and Magni and a daughter named Thrud. He's also Ullr's foster father. He is known as the defender of Asgard and Midgard.

Loki: son of the giant Laufey. This is a very handsome god, is eloquent and subtle, the god of deception, being even more cunning than Odin, who considers him his brother and is a friend of Thor although frequently betrayed. Thanks to Loki the world is more entertaining, but also more dangerous. Loki has three children: Hela, Fenrir and Jörmundgandr, all of whom will be present at Ragnarok (the battle of the gods), although they will not fight alongside them.
